EPD type of this dataset is "Cradle-to-grave" and module D (A + B + C + D). The primary energy demand and environmental impact of the considered product is basically determined by the expenditure in the use-stage. This is due to electric energy consumption of for artificial light required electronic components and the related upstream processes for electricity generation. Module B6 considers a standardized use-scenario. Results in this module should not be compared with a dataset of comparable professional lighting product/component that has considered a different use-scenario. The heating value, resulting from the content of plastic determines the energy gain during the end-of-life scenario. Recycled material can be used in next systems. The avoided burden of primary energy and of the respective impact categories are declared in module D.

General comment
This data set has been modeled according to the European Standard EN 15804+A2 for Sustainable Building. Results are depicted in modules that allow the structured expression of results over the entire life cycle. Transport modul: A Standard scenario with a truck with a transport distance of 700 km in Europe is considered. The weight of the transported unit includes product with packaging. Use-stage modul: During the use-stage, consumption of electricity is calculated, based on a for the declared product characteristical, standardardised scenario. All use-scenarios are defined in the [PCR part B] of IBU. Not only annual operating time, average product lifetime and power consumption is considered but also additional influences like stand-by circuits, dimming function and more. The following electricity grid mix is applied by default: EU Allocation of waste material: For the treatment of production residues the calculation considers the increased demand of materials' input resulting in production residues during manufacturing. These material flows are not connected to an EoL-scenario. Avoided burdens for secondary material in case of potential recycling are not included. End-of-life modul: As an EoL scenario the product as well as the replacement parts are assumed to be collected to 100% (legal requirements defined within WEEE directive). The product and replacement parts are fed to a generic shredding process with fixed demand on electrical energy per input mass (C3) of 1,2 MJ/kg, resulting in different waste fractions. For the amount of metal flows respective recycling processes are considered, including recycling losses. Environmental burdens of recycling processes, as well as avoided burdens for secondary materials are assigned as total value in module D. The plastic fraction is fed into a process for waste incineration (B4/C3). The calculation of emissions from the waste incineration plant follows a partial stream consideration for the combustion process, according to an average mix of plastics.
