Reference year 2024
Name
TERRART®-light 28
Use advice for data set Scope: This EPD covers 1 m TERRART®-Light 28 ceramic faade panel, made by NBK Keramik GmbH in Emmerich am Rhein. System boundary: This is a cradle-to-factory gate EPD with options, modules C1-C4 and module D (A1-A3 + C + D and additional modules). The life cycle assessment accounts for modules A1, A2, A3, A5, C1, C2, C3, C4 and D. A1–A3 (production stage): provision of raw and recycled materials, transport to manufacturer, production (incl. energy generation, provision of auxiliary and packaging materials, direct emissions and waste disposal). A5 (building construction stage): The construction scenario deals with packaging disposal and installation of the panels in the building. Installation expenditures and waste are disregarded. C1-C4 (disposal stage): C1: manual removal from building; C2: transport to recycling facility 50 km; C3: waste treatment for reuse as filler in road construction applications; C4: disposal in landfill (irrelevant because material is recycled). D (credits and debits outside the system boundaries): credits result from the material recycling of the product and energetic recycling of the packaging material.
Technical purpose of product or process TERRART®-Light is used as cladding material in faades and for decorative interior construction applications. The faade panels are also used for suspended ceilings, embrasures, and coverings.

General comment on data set TERRART®-Light are ceramic faade panels made of fired clay. The panels are manufactured from various clay blends (white-firing & red-firing, chamotte) and are provided with the desired finishes and colours using appropriate firing curves. They are available as double panels (with hollow cells) for rear-ventilated curtain faades.

Technical data: TERRART®-Light ceramic faade panels have the following technical properties: Declared unit: The declaration refers to the production of 1 m of TERRART®-light 28 specific ceramic faade panels.

1This impact category deals mainly with the eventual impact of low dose ionizing radiation on human health of the nuclear fuel cycle. It does not consider effects due to possible nuclear accidents, occupational exposure nor due to radioactive waste disposal in underground facilities. Potential ionizing radiation from the soil, from radon and from some construction materials is also not measured by this indicator.
2The results of this environmental impact indicator shall be used with care as the uncertainties on these results are high or as there is limited experiences with the indicator.
