Coating powder IGP-DURA®one Series 56 - Coating powder
Use advice for data set Scope: The present Environmental Product Declaration declares an average formulation of an organic, thermosetting coating powder of Series 56 from the manufacturer IGP Pulvertechnik AG. The declaration includes the representable color palette of the solid-color and pearlescent-effect colors of the weather-resistant product groups: IGP-DURA®one 5603, 5607, and 561M. The declared products refer to the development and production sites in Wil, Switzerland, and Siestrzeń, Poland. System boundary: EPD Type: Cradle-to-gate with Modules C1-C4 and Module D (A1-A3, C, D). The life cycle assessment covers raw material provisioning (Module A1), transport to the production facility (Module A2) and the manufacturing processes of the powder coating, including packaging (Module A3). The coating process is not part of the study. The biogenic CO2 emissions from the packaging material are declared in A1-A3. At end of life the product is transported to disposal (Module C2) and subsequently disposed (Module C4).
Technical purpose of product or process IGP-DURA®one 56 is used for powder coating of a variety of outdoor and facade applications on metal substrates. The product profile, on the one hand, meets the performance requirements of quality associations, and on the other hand enables, due to its high reactivity, rapid heating and crosslinking times in the thermal coating process, which makes the 56-series coating powder an energy-efficient all-round product for diverse applications.

General comment on data set The low-temperature powder coatings of series 56 belong to the weather-resistant quality class and are based on saturated polyester resins, corresponding hardeners, as well as moisture- and light-stable pigments. The product series allows, due to rapidly reactive crosslinking binders, an energy- and resource-efficient coating. The series comprises the following surface finishes: IGP-DURA®one 5603 smooth-flowing, matte; IGP-DURA®one 5607 smooth-flowing, satin-gloss; IGP-DURA®one 561M finely structured, matte.

Technology description including background system Technology description This Environmental Product Declaration declares a thermosetting powder coating for architectural and non-architectural application with durable weatherability. This EPD covers product series IGP-DURA®one, Series 56, which is a weather-resistant duroplastic powder coating in different surfaces and gloss levels ranging from matte to satin gloss and from smooth to flat matte textured finishes and metallic effects based on saturated Polyester resin, the corresponding hardener and light- and weather resistant pigments. During production, the substances described in the section on basic and auxiliary materials are a) precisely weighed b) premixed c) melted and extruded d) cooled and crushed into chips e) ground and sieved f) packaged g) depending on the technology, metal effects require an additional binding process to the powder grain Technical data: When applied with the recommended coating thickness of 60 m, the powder coating films of IGP-DURA®one, series 56 have the following technical properties: Declared unit: The declared unit is 1 kg.

1This impact category deals mainly with the eventual impact of low dose ionizing radiation on human health of the nuclear fuel cycle. It does not consider effects due to possible nuclear accidents, occupational exposure nor due to radioactive waste disposal in underground facilities. Potential ionizing radiation from the soil, from radon and from some construction materials is also not measured by this indicator.
2The results of this environmental impact indicator shall be used with care as the uncertainties on these results are high or as there is limited experiences with the indicator.
