Name
Geficell® PE TDZ 6.0-1.0 Impact sound insulation
Deponierung in Modul C4 anfallen.
Technical purpose of product or process The product is used for impact sound insulation under floating screeds. Areas of application are primarily where, due to low construction heights, only very thin impact sound insulation layers can be used - in bathrooms bathrooms, for renovating old buildings and in prefabricated house construction. Impact sound insulation is used on solid ceilings to fulfill the requirements of DIN 4109-1 according to the application area DES(sm) according to DIN 4108-10. The impact sound insulation membranes are installed under 'floatingly'-laid, unheated screeds in accordance with DIN 18560-2.

Technology description including background system The product is manufactured at the Gefinex plant in Pritzwalk, Brandenburg in an extrusion process from polyethylene. Polyethylene granulate is melted with the addition of various additives, foamed up using propane gas, extruded in the form of PE-foam sheets and printed with a logo made of quick-drying ink. The sheets are coiled onto rolls using several deflection rollers and wrapped in packaging film. Unless otherwise specified below, the test methods according to EN 13163 apply. Performance values of the product according to the Declaration of Performance in relation to its essential characteristics´ according to ABZ/ABG No. Z-23.21-1234, date: 04.01.2021, title: Impact sound insulation under floating screed using the impact sound insulation sheet “Geficell TDZ”. The declared unit in this study is 1 kg Geficell® PE TDZ 6.0-1.0. Conversion into the units 1 m³ PE TDZ 6.0-1.0 or 1 m² PE TDZ 6.0-1.0 is possible, using conversion factors taking into account the thickness of 6 mm. The declared unit refers to the representative product 'Geficell® PE TDZ 6.0-1.0 article 711730' manufactured in the reference year 2022. It is the most sold product variant. The composition for the unpackaged product is identical for all variants. The material quantities and energy flows considered in the EPD during the production of the unpackaged product were recorded together for all three variants of Geficell® PE TDZ 6.0-1.0 with the article numbers 711730, 712450 and 712449 due to the manufacturing and process. An averaged value based on the packaging unit is available for the quantity of packaging. The mass-related definition of the declared unit in this study facilitates scaling to different sizes, dimensions and units. Conversion to 1 m³ or 1 m² is ensured by applying the above-mentioned factors.

1This impact category deals mainly with the eventual impact of low dose ionizing radiation on human health of the nuclear fuel cycle. It does not consider effects due to possible nuclear accidents, occupational exposure nor due to radioactive waste disposal in underground facilities. Potential ionizing radiation from the soil, from radon and from some construction materials is also not measured by this indicator.
2The results of this environmental impact indicator shall be used with care as the uncertainties on these results are high or as there is limited experiences with the indicator.
