Name
FlowMotion® mWing
Use advice for data set Scope: The EPD refers to FlowMotion® mWing speed gate (Product dimensions: 1300 x 1050 x 180 mm; glass door standard height: 888 mm) manufactured by Magnetic Autocontrol GmbH. The production site for the product is situated in Schopfheim, Germany. The pre-products are supplied from Germany, Italy, Bulgaria, China, Iceland, Tunisia, Indonesia and Great Britain. The LCA results declared in the EPD are based on the data collected in 2022 and cover the entire life cycle of FlowMotion® mWing speed gate (standard height). System boundary: Type of EPD: cradle to grave The system boundary of the EPD follows the modular structure defined by EN 15804. Modules A1 to A3 include the provision and processing of raw materials and pre-products, the transport to the manufacturer's production site and the production of the mWing product. Module A4 includes the transportation of the product to the installation site. Module A5 covers the manual installation of the product (negligible impact) and treatment and disposal of packaging material. The product has no direct emissions (B1) and is designed so that no maintenance is required (B2) or parts need to be replaced (B4). Furthermore, no standard repairs (B3) or refurbishments (B5) are fore-seen. The use of the product does not require water consumption (B7) but requires electricity (B6) throughout its use stage. Module C1 includes manual disassembly of the product and C2 includes transportation of the waste to treatment site. Module C3 and C4 include emissions of processing waste through a shredder and waste land filling and the final disposal of waste. Module D comprises the recycling of metals and gives the recycling potentials as well as potential benefits from energy substitution.
Technical purpose of product or process The product can be used at the following locations: Office and administrative buildings Ministries and government building Banks and financial institutions Industrial buildings Schools and universities Sportive areas Indoor and outdoor use

General comment on data set The FlowMotion® mWing is designed for the control of persons entering or leaving an area with restricted access. The FlowMotion® mWing speed gate is intended for the passage of persons safely, speedily and without any help. Different security levels are possible, mechanical locking and comprehensive monitoring of the access area. Magnetic drive technology complies with current norms and standards, including DIN EN 17352. To ensure user safety at all times without the need for complex and expensive monitoring equipment, the Magnetic Safety Drive System (MSDS®) complies with an innovative low-energy concept. The interaction of the drive motor, power supply and control system ensures that only a limited amount of energy can be fed into the system at any time. This means that all Momentum family locks with MSDS are safe to use at all times. The housing is made out of mDure® (Polyurethane) with a wide range of colour options. It is highly resistant to impacts, scratches and abrasion. It can cushion mechanical effects without suffering any lasting deformation. The material is extremely durable and chemically resistant – against disinfectants and detergents, as well as against aggressive chemicals, UV radiation and corrosion. It is free of pollutants and can be recycled, disposed of as household waste, or burnt without polluting the environment. The product consists of a stainless steel base frame and plate. The wings are made of glass. The side panels of the housing are attached to the frame without any visible connecting elements and thus create the impression of seamless construction. User guidance: Frame-edge illumination is integrated and light elements offer flexible use to show operational readiness, the direction of passage or the validity of access authorization The white floor illumination simplifies orientation in the entrance area for visitors. The passage direction indicator in the front face plate shows visitors if the passage is open to them and whether they have valid access authorization. Unobstructed escape routes: mWing allows free passage in the case of a power outage or an alarm signal. The wing doors allow the setting up of particularly wide, officially approved escape routes.

Technology description including background system Manufacturing process of an mWing module consist of acquisition of raw materials and sub-components (electronic, electromechanics and mechanic components) from multiple supplier from Europe. The raw materials and sub-components are then transported to and processed in the Magnetic Autocontrol GmbH factory in south Germany. The inputs of these processes are electricity, thermal energy, and water. Afterwards the product is packed in packaging materials and distributed to the client. At the client's location, the product is installed with screwdrivers. The energy and material inputs during installation are negligible. The materials used in the product are mainly plastics, glass and steel with small amounts of aluminium and copper. Technical data: The product is delivered in two separate modules, each packed individually. The details of each module are given below: Module 1: Name: FMWI_AL, mWing A-Modul Weight without packaging: 75 kg Module 2: Name: FMWI_BL, mWing B-Modul Weight without packaging: 79 kg Information on Packaging: Mainly corrugated board (13.2 kg) and wooden pallets (22.2 kg) are used for packaging of the products. The other packaging material includes steel screws, steel sheet and plastic film and the total packaging weight is 35.8 kg. Total weight of module A and module B including packaging is 190.5 kg. Declared unit: The declared functional unit is to provide 14,6 Million closing cycles during a reference lifetime of 20 years i.e. equivalent to 1 unit of FlowMotion® mWing speed gate (Product dimensions: 1300 x 1050 x 180 mm; glass door standard height: 888 mm).

1This impact category deals mainly with the eventual impact of low dose ionizing radiation on human health of the nuclear fuel cycle. It does not consider effects due to possible nuclear accidents, occupational exposure nor due to radioactive waste disposal in underground facilities. Potential ionizing radiation from the soil, from radon and from some construction materials is also not measured by this indicator.
2The results of this environmental impact indicator shall be used with care as the uncertainties on these results are high or as there is limited experiences with the indicator.
